blankAlderman Dame Fiona Woolf DBE was the Lord Mayor of London for the year 2013/14 as the 686th Lord Mayor, and only the second woman to hold the role since 1189. She was also one of the first women to make partner in a City law firm.
As Lord Mayor, Dame Fiona initiated the Power of Diversity Programme to promote diversity and inclusion in all its forms.
She was awarded a DBE in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to the Legal Profession, Diversity and the City of London. She became  a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London in April 2016. Dame Fiona is currently an energy lawyer with CMS Cameron McKenna.

Elaine Aarons – Co-founder of One Loud Voice for Women, Employment Law Partner at international law firm Withers LLP

Elaine AaronsElaine Aarons is a lawyer with extensive experience in employment and partnership law, acting for directors, senior executives, senior partners, and entrepreneurs. She is a pioneer in advancing employment practices in the United Kingdom which are fair to women’s needs. She serves as Board Secretary for International Women’s Forum UK, responsible for governance matters and sits on their Ethical Leadership Committee. Her latest endeavour is co-establishing One Loud Voice for Women (1LV), a coordinating force for UK women’s networks which is focused on the equality agenda for women in the workplace.

1LV was born out of shared frustration at the slow pace of change for women at work. The committee members each speak for a major organisation currently working to remove the obstacles to an equal workplace – by bringing the voices of these organisations together, and engaging with others in this area, we will create a loud enough noise to drive faster change.  

Kathleen Brooks – Research Director, FOREX.com & City Index

Kathleen Brooks is research director for City trading firm City Index, part of Gain Capital. She joined Gain Capital in 2010, and has previously worked for BP, City A.M., and even a women’s fashion magazine. Kathleen’s academic background is surprisingly not in economics. She studied English Literature and Classical Civilisation at Trinity College Dublin and then went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Journalism at Columbia University in New York City. She believes her unconventional background has been the key to her career success so far. Kathleen also regularly appears on television, print and online media as a financial markets commentator.

Liz Field – Chief Executive, Wealth Management Association

Liz joined PIMFA, formerly the Wealth Management Association (WMA), as Chief Executive in 2014. She has 27 years financial services experience, 17 of which as a successful Chief Executive. She successfully transformed and advised several businesses through redefining strategy, rebranding, change management and inspirational leadership, creating profitable businesses. She has substantive experience of people and cultural risk, regulatory knowhow across the industry – banking, insurance and wealth management and providing the best practice guidelines for the industry to adopt to manage risk. She is an accredited coach and industry leader encouraging collaborative participation of diverse groups of industry experts to address sector challenges and to leverage industry resources. Liz holds a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia CBE BA, FCA, FCIBS – Chief Executive, Virgin Money

Jayne-Anne-GadhiaJayne Anne Gadhia is the CEO of Virgin Money.

A Chartered Accountant, she spent six years at Norwich Union (now Aviva) before becoming one of the founders of Virgin Direct in 1995.

In 1998 she set up the Virgin One account which was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2001. After five years at RBS as part of the Retail executive Committee, she returned to Virgin as the CEO of Virgin Money.

In 2012 Virgin Money acquired Northern Rock and, in 2014, successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange.

A vocal supporter of businesses responsibility to make a positive contribution to society Jayne Anne is a trustee of Business in the Community. In November 2016 Jayne-Anne was announced as the government’s Women in Finance Champion.

Rina Goldenberg Lynch – CEO, Voice At The Table

Rina Goldenberg LynchRina Goldenberg Lynch has worked as a City lawyer and executive for 20 years. As an accredited Associate Executive Coach and a qualified ILM Level 5 trainer, she has experience coaching and mentoring women across the board in corporate, not-for-profit and entrepreneurial sectors.

In recent years, Rina has been working on diversity and inclusion matters, including strategy development and initiatives. 

Jane Karczewski – London Women’s Forum & Managing Director, Citi

Jane KarczewskiJane Karczewski is a Managing Director within Global Markets Strategic Risk Solutions at Citi. She is the former chair and now Board Member of London Women’s Forum. Jane has over 25 years of financial industry experience, and an in-depth knowledge of the European Investment Management industry. Having worked on many strategic deals in the outperformance and financing space across EMEA she has excellent experience in working across product, functions, and the professional services industry. Prior to Citi, Jane spent 3 years as a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and 13 years at Morgan Stanley where she started her career in trading before moving to a senior sales role. Jane is currently Co-Chair of Citi’s Women’s Network in London. She started her career working for an FX hedge fund in Monaco. Jane has a BA (Hons) in European Studies with Combined Languages from Kent University in Canterbury, and speaks fluent French and German.

Rupert Lee-Browne – Founder & Chief Executive, Caxton FX

Rupert Lee-Browne, Founder and Chief Executive Rupert Lee-Browne founded Caxton with the mission of offering a bank-beating foreign exchange without compromising quality advice and service. He started the business in 2002 with just an ad on Google and a phone. 15 years later, the business generates over £1bn a year, exchanges millions of pounds a daily basis, and has over 100 employees. Caxton is Rupert’s second business. His first was an online ordering system for caterers in the 90s. It sold to a VC fund in 2001. Prior to this, he had a successful career in the financial and media sectors. Rupert read Art History at the University of London. He currently lives in London with his wife and teenage son.

Dr Jill Miller – Diversity and Inclusion Adviser, CIPD

Jill MillerJill Miller is the Diversity and Inclusion Adviser at CIPD, the professional body for HR management. She joined CIPD in 2008 and until November this year was a research adviser for the trade body, covering a range of people management issues related to the drivers of sustainable organisation performance.
In her capacity as Diversity and Inclusion adviser, Jill will continue CIPD’s work in striving for equality in the workforce. Jill is a psychology graduate with a postgraduate masters and PhD in Management. Previously, Jill lectured at Reading University on International Human Resource Management.

Praseeda Nair – Editor, GrowthBusiness.co.uk

Praseeda is the editor of GrowthBusiness.co.uk, a London-headquartered publication focused on the fast-growth start-ups and scale-ups in the UK and beyond. Gwyneth Nurse – Director of Financial Services, HM Treasury

Gwyneth NurseGwyneth Nurse took up the role of Director of Financial Services in HM Treasury in April 2015. Prior to that, Gwyneth was Deputy Director of the Banking and Credit Team in the Treasury. She moved to that role after heading up the Assets, Savings and Wealth Team, also in the Treasury. Before joining the Treasury, Gwyneth worked for HM Revenue & Customs, where she qualified as a Tax Inspector and then worked in tax policy.

Sarah Pennells – Financial journalist & Founder, SavvyWoman.co.uk

Sarah Pennells is a financial broadcaster, journalist and author with over 20 years’ experience working across television, radio, web and print. She is the founder and editor of the UK’s leading finance website for women, SavvyWoman.co.uk. Sarah also presents weekly finance programmes on Share Radio and was recently named BIBA journalist of the year and Santander financial broadcast journalist of the year. Sarah has written three personal finance books – on making good money decisions as a couple, green and ethical money and divorce and finance and has worked for BBC1’s Breakfast programme and Radio 4’s Moneybox.

Gwen Rhys – Founder & CEO, Women in the City

Gwen RhysGwen’s career intertwines periods of corporate life and entrepreneurship.

Selling her first business in 1987 she changed direction and designed and led innovative programmes in London, Merseyside and West Yorkshire that encouraged closer links between education and business before taking up the position of Chief Executive at Westminster Enterprise Agency.

She set up Networking Culture in 1996 and worked with a wide range of organisations including global corporates, professional service organisations, national charities, universities and trade associations helping employees build their social capital.

Through this work she further developed her interest in gender diversity and in 2003 organised a lunch to bring together women working in the City.

This one-off event developed into Women in the City, an organisation that promotes, recognises and rewards female talent.

Gwen was named 2009 Management Champion by the City Branch of the Chartered Management Institute and in 2011 won an international Stevie Women in Business Award in the Women Helping Women Category and a Global Excellence Award for the Women in the City Annual Celebration Lunch. In 2012 she appeared in Brummell magazine’s 30 Most Influential Women in the City List and in 2015 was identified as one of the top 50 diversity figures in public life in the 2015 Global Diversity List.

Gwen also takes an active interest in the civic life of the City of London.  She was Master of the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers in 2015,  is a member of the Queenhithe and Aldgate Ward Clubs and a Liveryman in the Livery Company of Wales, the Worshipful Company of Needlemakers and the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.

An energising and inspirational presenter and keynote speaker, Gwen was one of the Judges for the 2014 and 2015 European Diversity Awards, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, mentors students and young professionals and is on the board of the social enterprise, Turnaround Futures.

Sarah Turner – Founder & CEO, Angel Academe

Sarah TurnerSarah is an entrepreneur and angel investor. She founded Angel Academe in 2013 to encourage more women to become angel investors in early stage tech startups. She’s also Director of digital strategy company Turner Hopkins and a “Dealmaker” for UKTI’s Global Entrepreneur Programme. She’s spent most of the last 20 years working in and around digital technology in the UK, Europe, US and Asia. Sarah works with start-ups and growth stage companies as advisor, supporter and connector; and with larger organisations and multinationals to develop their peripheral vision by identifying areas for innovation and the best partners and processes to help them deliver it.
